Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then found multiple other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Police say initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior representative stated the incident rendered him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
